Chief Executive Officer

Chris Heinson was appointed Maverick’s Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors in August 2018. Prior to joining Maverick, Heinson served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sanchez Energy and Sanchez Oil & Gas Corporation. Heinson began his career at Occidental Petroleum Corporation, where he held various roles of increasing responsibility in planning and reservoir engineering. Heinson holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

John Brawley, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

John Brawley was appointed Maverick’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in September 2018. Prior to joining Maverick, Brawley served as Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, M&A and Treasurer at SandRidge Energy. Brawley has held numerous senior leadership roles in public companies, including Chief Financial Officer of both midstream and upstream companies. He also served as Co-Head of the Guggenheim Houston office from 2010-2013. Brawley holds a B.A. in Economics and Biological Sciences from Rice University and an M.B.A. from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University.

Rick Gideon

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Rick Gideon was appointed Maverick’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in June 2023. Prior to joining Maverick, Rick served as Chief Executive Officer of Roan Resources, Inc. Gideon has held numerous leadership roles in public and privately held companies, including Senior Vice President of U.S. Exploration and Production for Devon Energy Corporation as well as senior positions at HighMount E&P, LLC, Linn Energy, Inc., and Dominion Energy, Inc. He has also advised and consulted firms such as Blackstone Energy Partners. Gideon holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Benjamin Paul, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Ben Paul was appointed Maverick’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel in April 2019. Prior to joining Maverick, Paul served as Assistant General Counsel of Newfield Exploration Company and was an attorney at LINN Energy. He began his legal career with Latham & Watkins and Baker Botts. Paul also worked at McKesson Corporation and Deloitte Consulting before attending law school. Paul holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
